Welcome to the online sample repository for the CBTR: Hunter Gatherer.
The Hunter Gatherer Mission is an ongoing series of expeditions by our fleet of exploratory rovers into the environment surrounding our mobile research facility (EarthBase 1 hereafter) to gather physical samples and photographs from the population. By this method we have begun to create a detailed image of the societies and cultures indigenous to this island.
The Hunter Gatherer Rovers plot courses through the unknown by linking to related individuals in space. Each one of these individuals leads us to a cluster of new individuals, each with their own cluster of associated individuals, and potential research subjects. In this manner we can gather data from great areas of space to which we are directly connected.
Hunter Gatherer mission commanders are recruited from the close associates of the CBTSA. These pilots collect samples and photographs from the members of their respective communities and return them to the CBTSA, at which point the rovers are refit and relaunched. Members of the pilots’ communities become potential mission commander recruits. To date, more than ten missions have been launched from our facilities at EarthBase 1. Significant data have been recovered, and more is being recovererd on a regular basis.
Each HG rover has capacity to carry either twelve or twenty-four samples, depending on the specific model of the Rover. Plans for an eighteen sample version are in the works. Each is equipped with an onboard camera device to collect images of each sample in its natural environment.
Each sample is relatively small, in order to make it possible to carry a larger number of samples over the great distances that the HG rovers cover. So far the missions have yielded more than 100 samples, but the goals of the Hunter Gatherer Mission are far more ambitious.
The recruitment of Mission Commanders has allowed us to have meaningful exchange with a great many more communities and individuals than we could have hoped for otherwise. Mission Commanders have made it possible for us to interact with foreign communities while maintaining a strong safety buffer to protect against dangerous or embarassing social situations.
The Hunter Gatherer Mission has and continues to help us at the CBTSA better understand the planet we live on. As we continue to expand our research and the scope of our missions, we are constantly looking for opportunities to share what we have learned with those with whom we share this planet. We pleased to have the opportunity to share the preliminary results of our Hunter Gatherer mission with you here online.
