In summary, when approaching iPad app design, do so in a way that acknowledges the strengths and unique advantages of the device and platform. Ask yourself these questions:

The iPad is a tablet computer designed and marketed by Apple, meant for internet browsing, media consumption, gaming, and light content creation. Unlike many older tablets, it uses fingertips for input instead of a stylus. Released in April 2010, it introduced a class of devices between smartphones and laptops.
Like the older iPod Touch and iPhone devices, the larger iPad runs the iPhone OS and uses a multi-touch LCD for most user interactions. It runs iPad-specific applications as well as those written for the iPhone and iPod touch, including e-book readers.
Design an iPad application for your local newspaper. Screen size is 1024 x 768 pixels or roughly 7.8 x 5.8 inches? Consider the orientation of your application, vertical or horizontal.
Either adopt the name of your local paper or make one up. As you work on the project think about the identity of the news organization through typography, color, tone, etc.
Design at least three screens; home, section article list and a typical article.

FIRST IDEA
I loved the idea of someone waiting at a bus/train stop and having something to do. There have been multiple time that i have been bored just waiting for the bus to come. I thought of integrating education with the theme of waiting for the bus. Clearly my target market was school children. As the wait for the bus stop there screen next to them has a map of the world and you can click on any place in the map and it will give you a little history of that place on that day. for example today is August 6 2010. and you waiting for the bus to come if you click on japan. it will give you an interesting fact about that day in history – that is the bombing of hiroshima nagasaki – and if you click on it – it will give you further information about that. suppose you want to know something else about a county on the same day you go back to the map and click on say – india – on august 6th in the united states – so it will give you on august 8th 1988 – “Police riot” in New York City’s Tompkins Square Park.
SECOND IDEA
my second idea taking a picture with different historic monuments making postcards ,stickers or sketches. and this screen would be placed in front of the monument – so the limitation of this project would be the angle of view when making the postcard sticker or stretch. they normally have these in game arcades but idea was to get the real sense of the place right there and convert it into a souvenir
THIRD AND REFORMED IDEA
i sort of changed my concept for the first idea to something better- as i said - i loved the idea of waiting for a bus and having something to do
but then i was inspired by the taking a picture in japan and then it being on the screen for times square - as you said something a parsons alum did that – and i really thought it was so cool got me thinking.
so i changed my concept to something a little more interactive called express.pun intended.
It is called so for two reasons a) because thats what a bus train is supposed to do transport you from one place to another – FAST
and b) because you are expressing your feelings/thoughts through this interactive medium.
so basically one can come and when waiting at the stop, on this screen next to them, like the iphone has a blank space..write – leave a message -something for someone in another country who is also waiting for a bus to see. it would be nice to know in different parts of the world what is happening as someone waits for a bus – maybe its something they saw that day like a child giving a mother a heart balloon, or a new place the discovered in their office like the secret room behind the print/ fax office which is not used to exactly store things but rather like a room where all the cake for clients is stored – or just a soldier waiting for his bus back to border just expressing his feelings for a girl he loves but can never tell. that way everyday you can see what is happening around the world – as it happens. though this project would work better within a city – maybe i’ll stick to that instead.
