Although I very much would have liked to be able to re-use the original glass cathode tube of the television, I have ruled it out for both safety and technical / time considerations. I think that the project would be stronger if the glass was used, but the message will still come across without it. Instead I will re-create the television innards in clear 1/4" Plexiglas, which can be bout in abundance at Canal Plastics. I will mock up the forms in foam board first before attempting to mill any plastic. In these examples the front of the sand container is open only for diagrammatic purposes and of course will be sealed in plastic in the final iteration.
