My Final Project for Code

This is the culmination of my first code experiances. I am really interested in it and hope to keep pursuing it at Parsons.

Response to Chapters 7-12

There were a few things that really interested me in the readings for this week. The first is that making integers in computer code is based on the binary system. The idea that there are no numerical values in computer language amazes me. Something as simple a concept as 12 or 15 can be broken down even further into varying combinations of 0 and 1. I guess the ability a computer has to reduce information into such a small scale is what really blows me away. Secondly, I was interested by the ideas of "and" and "or" and that there are multiple different ways of achieving the same goal.

3 Favorite Pieces at Eyebeam

The first piece I like was the carnivore installation. I think it is very cool to see an artist using security equipment like the police tracking systems and to make a work which to me seemed very insecure. For example, when a detection of a crime is happening, the carnivore sends the signal to battery operated cars that are arranged in a cluster which to me seemed chaotic and confused.
