The Project:

"Waiting for the Moon to Rise" is a short stop-motion animation that tells a story of unrequited love. Partially inspired by the work of Italo Calvino, the film is a modern fairy tale about a love triangle that has developed between three friends during their journeys to the moon to harvest cheese. The purpose of this project is to create a stop-motion short, aimed at eighteen to twenty-four-year-olds, which successfully tells a story of unrequited love with no dialogue and puppets with no facial animation. I want to find out how to effectively use body language to convey feelings, emotions, and ideas in order to use minimal facial animation to explore the importance of gesture in animated shorts. The final piece will be four minutes long and will contain no dialogue.
