"The goal of Major Studio: Spring Concentrations, (Interaction) is
to introduce students to a body of knowledge specific to the studio's concentration topic,
to develop the design process and the expand upon the studio and critique environment
upon which most MFADT classes are based, to teach effective presentation skills, to help
students develop a summer research plan in preparation for their thesis year, and to
engage students in challenging and meaningful discussions about the dynamic
relationship between design and technology practices."

Readings
January 22, 2008Networking on the Network by Phil Agre
http://www.acm.org/crossroads/xrds4-4/network.html
This reading concerns techniques, protocols and vagaries involved in developing a network of professional contacts through e-mail and other digital media. I found the article to be pertinent and well written. Several of the concepts, are clearly forms of etiquette that are germane to the new digital realm. However, some of the techniques are common and obvious to any working professional.
Many occassions dictate protocol and decorum. Many people do abuse e-mail, lacking control and professionalism in their reponses. Why, one can't say. I'm more interested in 'why', actually. That, unfortunately, wasn't the thrust of the article. I find him slightly stiff when the author chides readers to not approach someone who is more 'powerful' than themselves. Define 'powerful' in this context. Or to not call people directly on the phone. Overall the article was helpful to me as a design professional, though somewhat limited.
Interest Map
This is my map of interests, obsessions and concerns. It is constantly growing. The things that interest you, define you, and sometimes hinder you. But I feel more secure being able to see where I want to go, with my map.
This is a collage of the interests I have, it is also my screensaver on my laptop.
