about Mobile Geographies
Mobile Geographies is a project that aims to create a platform for the production and dissemination of geo-tagged urban information – including historical facts, individual experiences, neighbourhood statistics, planning information and other information deemed important by a community of users. The goal is to connect virtual narrative layers to tangible places, providing a ghosted space where stories, histories and statistics reveal patterns of associations or visions of the future. Mobile phones serve as both the input and output devices of information in this project.
This project is a collaborative effort between students and faculty from Mumbai at the Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture and students and faculty from The New School, including Parsons Communication Design and Technology department and the New School for Social Research's Anthropology department. Lead faculty are Colleen Macklin, Stephanie Owens and Vyjayanthi Rao. You can email us for more info!
