When you make a call on your cell phone, where do you usually go? What if you know it's going to be a long call? Outside my bedroom depends on if i'm with a big group of people. i usually just go somewhere quite where i can hear.. I walk around even if its long to my room if i'm making a call on my cell i usually go to a room where no one is that way i can have privacy, and if i know the call is going to be long i find a time to make that call when i know i won't be needing to do something else. Bedroom or living room. My bed if im at home, and i know it will be a long call. private place, outside i'll go to my bedroom, and if its going to be a long call, it depends. if im not busy, ill answer, if i am, i let it go to voicemail Anywhere. If its going to be along call and someone is in the room i will go to a different room. If I'm at a friend's place, I go into the bathroom because it's usually quiet and private. At home, I will talk in my room. Bathroom. anywhere quiet Normal call, wherever I'm at. Long call, bedroom. My dorm room, or the hallway/stairwell if I need privacy. Same for long calls. I go to a quieter place. To a secluded area. At home: to the one place in the corner where I have reception. In public: I generally try to step away from other people, away from the flow of foot traffic, into a hallway or quieter place, a doorway or more secluded spot on the street, etc. Unless I have to keep moving - then I walk and talk. Behavior doesn't change with a longer call. I make calls from my car, my couch or my desk at work. A quiet corner. For a long call, outside, or to a different room. Somewhere where there's no people Usually I go in the hallway or outside, whether it's going to be a short or long call. If it's a long call, I'll go outside or in a quiet room so I don't bother people. If it's just a "touch base" call, I'll make it where I am. If people are around, in another room or away from as many people as possible. outside, outside or another room Normally I try to go to a "private" space, where I wont disturb someone, and talk freely. in my bedroom or in the car home i always try to find somewhere outside the building or close to the window and has fewer people around Nowhere. A quiet place; long call, a place devoid of distractions. my room...if it's a long call, i walk around the apt. dont go anywhere just take the call,, unless im in class if I know its gonna be a long call.. I try to move away from people so I dont bother them, to some hallway n' hopefully get a place to sit down If I'm at school, I try to stand in a hallway where there aren't many people around. I don't like to disturb others with my own conversations. If I'm at home I usually sit in front of my computer. This usually turns out to be a mistake because I get distracted by email and soduku puzzles. If I know that its a short call, I just stay as wherever I am. If its a long call, hallway or corner works for me. Also depends on who I'm going to call. a private space, where I can be alone either at my desk, or I go into another room if it is going to be long 2. Is there anywhere that you wish people wouldn't use their cell phone? in an elevator in a restraunt in a bath room elevators, in lines for something.. anywhere where you can hear the convo is just weird nah when their right beside you and talk LOUD! yes movie theaters when they're right in front of you when you're having a conversation with them and they start having a conversation with someone else knowing full well that i'm waiting there to continue our conversation restaurants restaurants, its ok if they dont talk loud. in the washroom! church, out for supper, movie theatre. Not rly, as long as your not loud I dont rly care. in resturants, i think its rude At Church or in a Dr waiting room right outside my door while I'm trying to sleep. lab, theater, class Buses, trains, areas with space constraints In checkout lines and entertainment venues like movie theaters or concerts. Otherwise, it's more a matter of decibel level - and general courteousness/awareness of others - that I wish people had. Restaurants and trains and bathrooms. Also, during sex. Whilst watching films Theaters, religious temples, family gatherings...all together where there's a bigger group of people and the cellphone conversation is a distraction to others. In movie theatres and elevators long as they are quiet, I don't really mind where they take it. Obviously, some place like a library, where it's supposed to be quiet, is inappropriate. In line at the grocery store, in the gym, on the bus/train, in small rooms, and in the car in line anywhere, in restaurants, airplanes Really small places, when they talk really loud and you don't have more option but be part of the conversation. Anytime I am alone with them and it is a long call. ie in the car at dinner, b/c I feel like I eavesdropping and it is unintentional around me Anywhere in public, if it's long personal calls. When interacting with others while engaged in a conversation on their phone. At work Nope sometimes.. when people are inconsiderate n loud I usually don't mind where people use their cell phones unless it is a place where there are very clear social standards about cell phone usage such as in a library I dont care where but its rude to talk for long when hanging out with peoplepublic spaces, such as subway and restaurants when I am out to eat with them - come on that call or text message can wait until we are finished 3. What is the most awkward/funny/frustrated/anti-social cell phone experience you've ever had? i was in an elevator and this guy come in and is talking soooo loud on his cell phone and i already had a head ache and he was repeating him self cause the person couldnt hear him well and i wanted to take that phone and chuckit against the wall i was txting all class & towards the end somebody's vibrated and the teacher heard it and was like what is that? and my friend was like oh thats her she's been txting all class! exept this time it wasnt actually me!!! Lol too many to name when numbers i dont know call me, so i call them back and their like i never called you. texted my ex girl freind with my current one i was at a party and my mother called me asking me for the password to MY computer because she broke her laptop. i hung up on her because my song that i requested came on and i didn't want to have an arguement with her. WELL, she kept calling so i turned my phone off. Low and behold she arrived at the party to pick me up early. i immediately called my father and told him what happened. that evening after i bitched her our on our walk from the house to the car i was never punished because she realized how much of a bitch she was. talking to someone who thought I was a different person and I thought she was a different friend. I called some one to ask if there was a rehersal that night and that person has the same name as some obscure relative so i called them instead and talked to them for a good five minutes before i realized i wasnt talking to the right person. break-up my and my bfs car broke down, my phone was dead, and his didnt have service. Leaving it in a cab. Took 6 days to get back to me and he tryed charging me a $20 dilivery fee Faked a phone call to avoid someone, but my ringtone for texting went off halfway through my 'conversation'...and just as I was passing them. The most awkward telling my mom I got my period. i am a waitress, and there was this guy on this cell phone, her got up and starting walking out the door, he was saying "I won't be able to make it, i am in (a place), when really he was somewhere different. I think it was his boss on the phone. I guy in a bathroom stall at the Houston airport talking very loudly for like 5 minutes. One of my first days of college I was at a group activity and felt so frustrated at being lonely that I begged my sister thru text messaging to keep me busy. I haven't recieved many calls though. nothing special so far. Actually, I don't use cell phone usually... sometimes I left it at home without noticing it. A person sitting next to me on the bus describing in great detail a sexual experience I used to be appalled at people who have screaming arguments or crying jags on their phones in public - and then I've been that person, so now I think that's probably hypocritical... But I've never been embarrassed enough to remember a specific incident. Likewise with the just-connected-and-said-hi-run-into-someone-on-the-street-so-hung-up-on-phonecall situation: too numerous to remember... The most frustrating experience I had was receiving a much-awaited job offer call while deep inside the cavernous Met Museum - and being told in no uncertain terms that I had to hang up and not use my phone on the premises. What was especially annoying was that I moved to one of their cafe areas to take the call - where plenty of people were being at least as loud as I was... It took me almost 10 minutes to make my way outside so I could return the call. The building is so large and takes in such a large volume of the public that they should find a way to be more accomodating to established technologies. My boss, a fifty year-old woman, always used to call people on the toilet from the bathroom in our office. She dropped three phones in the toilet. Sometime you could hear her talking on the phone through the wall from our conference room. Phones going off during sex, or too early in the morning, or having to overhear loud inane conversations on trains, are all annoying. Not everyone in the vicinity wants to hear about your aunt Calling/sending TXT msgs to your people at the same time they are calling me. I called my friend and somehow the lines got rerouted incorrectly and I thought the person who answered the phone was somoene at my friends house messing with me, so I started being an asshole until I realized....then I hung up. Trying to take a picture inside a gov't building on the sly. Very scary. Person A is Person B's boss. While Person A is out with co-workers in a bar setting, Person A's cell phone dialed out to his boss without Person A knowing. Person A has had a few too many drinks and is openly expressing all of the things he dislikes about Person B to his co-workers. Person B sits quickly on the phone for approximately 45 minutes. Days later, Person B continues to bring up many of Person A's comments in daily conversations where Person A knows he is aware of what was said. Person A continues to confront the other co-workers who were with him at the time, and Person A is convinced one of them is lying about telling Person B. Hilarious all around. arguing with sig. other while at a bar with friends one day I was playing with a friend cell phone, and by mistake I went to a wrong menu and discovered some sexual messages really think of one besides the ridiculous drunk dials and texts fone starts to ring in class my phone always ring at bad timing, especially my girlfriend always call me when I am in the toilet In my current apartment the walls are metal and it screws with my reception. There is terrible reception in there so I thought a text would be the way to go. Hospitals, parliament building I feel uncomfortable having a conversation anywhere where people can hear me. I feel far less uncomfortable texting and listening to voice mails with people around. Work private places when it is the middle of the day and someone from work calls and I am at the mall at a restaurant with friends somewhere the population is to dense...like classroom, elevator Always In personal environments where others can listen to what I'm saying. In the car when other people are riding with me in class, or on a date toilet In the public bathroom. I hate when my cell phone rings in there. That my sister had a miscarriage Worst: My best friend committed suicide; my girlfriend of a year and a half is breaking up with me. Best news: My sister was coming home Bad News: Break up Via text someone was engaged worst: my mom told me via text that she's going in for an MRI today (for her melanoma). best: compliments from my guy friend someone said he would be late at the time we should meet each other. Worst news - Someone telling you that they are no longer meeting you or joining you at an event.
