The purpose of the project is to design
a conceptualized stress reliever
for weary travelers by introducing new materials and media
in traditionally
dull context of airports. Travelers encounter long hours
of waiting and
anticipating in the airports. The facilities that provide
luxury currently
in the airports are only accessible to the privileged
travelers. Each
traveler has customized activities, such as reading, to
pass the time spent
in terminals, yet a space that provides privacy and comfort
is almost non-
existent. To help alleviate the stress and discomfort
of travelers, this
installation intends to incorporate sound, lighting and
soft materials into
a rocking chair that would create an experimental interface
of sensory
experience that allows travelers to customize the atmosphere
of their waiting
/resting area.
