Laser gun prototype

So we’ve got the basic idea of what SKIRMISH will be. Now it’s time to gather all the stuff we need to build the platform. We’ll start with the gun. It needs to be cheap, wireless (sorta), and easy to make/prototype without a lot of programming overhead. Infrared seems like a good choice, but LEDs aren’t very directional. So what about a laser?

SKIRMISH runs on a custom platform consisting of IR leds & lasers, a downward facing projector, and a hacked PS3 Eye.

SKIRMISH is a multi-directional top down shmup (shoot-em-up) for a custom platform built on openFrameworks. A little bit of infrared light, a projected play area, and some computer vision magic allows SKIRMISH to create immersive game play by transforming the player’s body as a controller.
