Andrea Dezsö, a visual artist and writer creates deeply personal narratives across a broad range of media including drawing, artist's books, cut paper, embroidery, sculpture, installation, animation and large-scale murals.

Dezsö's work was shown at the Museum of Arts & Design and the Jack Tilton Gallery in NYC, The NY Armory Show, Art Basel Miami Beach,
Rice Gallery in Houston, and reviewed in ArtForum, The New York Times, Village Voice, Wall Street Journal, NPR, New York magazine, Print, Fiber Arts and Hand/Eye. Her writing appeared in McSweeney’s, Print, Blab and Esopus.

Community Garden, Dezsö's large scale public mosaic was awarded Best American Public Art 2007. Dezsö is the recipient of 2009 & 2008 American Illustration awards, a 2009 Kohler Arts & Industry Fellowship, a 2008 Kamiyama, Japan Fellowship, a 2007 NYFA Fellowship, a 2007 Six Points Fellowship and the Ucross Foundation’s 2005 Lois Nellie Gill Award for Female Visual Artist of Exceptional Merit.

Dezsö is full time faculty of experimental animation at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has been full time faculty at Parsons School of Design in New York for nearly a decade; she has taught at New York's City College, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Hungary, and lectured extensively nationally and internationally.

Dezsö is represented by the Frey Norris Gallery in San Francisco CA, where her solo show, Things We Think When We Believe We Know, will open on October 8th 2010.
