Thanks for participating in One Of Mine.

One Of Mine is an exploration into everyday objects we use and how we use them. Often times, the way we use things goes unnoticed. When you use something everyday it's very easy to forget the nature of, say, your desk chair or your hair brush. But if these objects could talk, I'm sure they'd have a lot to say about you.

The questions below ask you to choose an object of yours and think more about how it is used. Along the way you'll also learn how the object might see you. Choose any object that you use in your house on a daily basis and answer the questions below. Personal affects such as purses, cell phones, iPods, and wallets don't count! Those are too obvious. Rather, One Of Mine asks you to explore the everyday objects around your home that you usually don't pay much attention to.

Please take a few moments to think about how you go about your day and choose an object in your home that is a part of your routine and answer the questions below. All submissions will be added to the One Of Mine Blog so that we can see all the other stories people's objects are telling. All submissions are anonymous.

Thanks for participating!

Please answer the following questions...

1. What is your everyday object?

2. How often do you come in contact with your object each day (once, twice per day or more?), and what is the duration of each contact
(5 minutes? An hour?):

3. What do your senses tell you about the object? How does it look, smell, sound, taste, feel?

4. What else is usually happening in the room/environment when you are using the object?

5. What is the most important part of the object to you? What do you depend on it for?

6. Does anyone else in your home use the object also? If so, how many people?

7. How would you feel if the object broke or was somehow missing from your life?

8. Think back to the last time you used the object...If the object could tell a story about that encounter through its own voice,
what might it relate about the encounter and say about you?

One Of Mine is part of a thesis experiment created by Katrina Bekessy. The purpose of this project is to connect people through the familiar objects they use, and help people gain insight into the emotional connections we have with these objects.
