Matchbox labels from Hungary in the '60s exhort and admonish a population living under communism

Why does over-fusing cause fire? Why should we use closed lamps in basements? Why replace metal sockets? The ones that intrigued me as a child were those of women washing in gasoline, since nobody I ever knew did that, and I couldn't imagine just what kind of stains does one need to accrue that needed washing in such a dangerous substance. I still don't know. The drawings are simple, iconic, sometimes rendered mysterious by inaccurate printing, words and images are combined with more or less graphic integrity. The variety of styles reveals the work of multiple artists or teams, yet each group viewed on its own is coherent and interesting enough to offer peepholes to a political system, a graphic style and a world gone by.
